20 percent of the costs for kitchen installation can be deducted.
These costs can only be deducted once.
A new kitchen can quickly become a significant financial burden. However, there is good news: a portion of the costs for your dream kitchen can be tax-deductible.
But this is not a reason to choose the next more expensive model. Only the costs for professional kitchen installation are deductible. The purchase price of the kitchen itself is not deductible, as it is considered a material asset.
If you have your kitchen installed, you can deduct 20 percent of the invoiced installation costs as a household-related service. You enter this on page 3, line 73 of the main tax form.
Rules to Ensure Tax Deduction
To ensure that the tax office recognizes the costs, you must follow several rules:
-
You may only deduct 20 percent of the installation costs.
-
Only up to 1,200 Euros per year can be deducted in total.
-
The kitchen must not be installed in a newly built home; the house or apartment must already exist.
-
Installation costs must be clearly itemized on the invoice.
-
The invoice must be paid by bank transfer to provide proof of payment. Cash payments are not recognized by the tax office.
-
Costs may only be deducted once.
