Tiling: How much does it cost?

Laying tiles costs on average 80 Euros per square meter.

Tile installation ranges between 33 and 127 Euros per square meter.

Tiles – a lifetime investment. Depending on whether you need tiles for the kitchen, living room, terrace, or less frequently used rooms, there are various tile qualities available. Tiles are extremely durable and basically can only be destroyed with force.

Factors that influence the cost of tile flooring include:

  • Area in square meters

  • Material price

  • Labor costs

  • Possible additional costs

Travel Costs

If the installation site is outside the contractor’s service area, a travel fee of 10–50 Euros may apply, depending on the region.

How to save money

Removing and disposing of old tiles yourself can save a significant amount. With some DIY skills, you can also prepare and prime the subfloor.

The installation pattern also affects costs. Installing tiles without a pattern is cheaper than patterned layouts.

Labor Costs

The cost of a tiler depends on tile size and design. The more complex the pattern, the higher the cost.

Tiler costs range between 26 and 57 Euros per square meter, including both laying and grouting.

Labor Costs for Floor Tiles

Tile Type Cost
Floor tile 10×10 cm 33–57 €/m²
Floor tile 20×20 cm 26–45 €/m²
Floor tile 30×30 cm 23–40 €/m²
Floor tile 30×60 cm 21–37 €/m²
Floor tile 20×20 cm textured 26–45 €/m²
Floor tile 30×30 cm textured 26–45 €/m²

Skirting boards are also installed. Including materials, expect 8–22 Euros per meter. This includes sealing the joint between wall and floor with silicone.

Priming the Floor

After the leveling compound dries, priming the floor enhances adhesive performance and ensures longer durability. Costs: 2–8 €/m².

Leveling the Floor

A flat subfloor is essential for tile longevity.

  • Inspection of the subfloor: 14–23 € (one-time)

  • Leveling the floor: 8–14 €/m²

Cost of Floor Tiles

Tile prices vary depending on size and design, ranging from 5 to 48 €/m².
