Final construction cleaning: What does it cost?

Final construction cleaning costs on average €4.55 per square meter.
In general, the price ranges between €0.10 and €9.00 per square meter.

Final construction cleaning refers to the process of cleaning a building before it is handed over to you in a livable condition. When you have a property built, it will only be handed over after this cleaning is completed. This includes cleaning the entire building — not only all sanitary facilities, but also doors, moldings, sockets, and light switches.

As a result, you receive a move-in-ready property free from construction residues or dirt.

Before moving in your furniture, you may need to wipe down dust again, but all major dirt will have already been removed during the construction cleaning.

The following factors can influence the total price:

  • Size of the building

  • Type and level of dirt

  • Additional costs for technical equipment

  • Surcharge for debris removal

How much does final construction cleaning cost?

In many construction projects, final cleaning is already included in the cost estimate.
However, it’s useful to know the approximate prices — especially if you book the cleaning service separately.
Expect the following costs:

Service and Material Cost
Hourly rate
For standard cleaning tasks €20–40 per hour
For more complex work (e.g., decluttering or cleaning after water damage) €50–60 per hour
Price per square meter
Standard cleaning tasks €0.50–9 per m²
Outdoor area cleaning €0.10–1.50 per m²

What additional costs may arise?

In addition to the basic prices, surcharges can apply. For apartments or houses up to 50 m², these are usually not charged.
For larger properties, typical surcharges are:

  • 50–69 m²: +€1.50 per m²

  • 70–80 m²: +€1.00 per m²

  • 81–99 m²: +€0.50–0.75 per m²

There may also be extra costs for technical equipment or travel. These depend on the location but are usually listed in the quote.

If the property is outside the service area, many contractors charge a travel fee, typically between €10 and €50, depending on the region.
